A Respectable Trade, my novel of the English slave trade, has been published in Polish by Książnica – Nobliwy proceder. I hope you like the new title and cover. I'm delighted that my older works are still being translated for new readerships – this book in particular was profoundly important for me. To look to the future we have to admit the truth of the past, and my home town of Bristol's past as a port where economic prosperity was built on the horror of slavery is hard to face.
