Richard, My Richard

Richard, My Richard is a new story about Richard III.  I started writing it after the reinterment at Leicester Cathedral which was for me, a historian’s dream: here I was at the funeral of a beloved 15th-century monarch.  It was as if I had fallen through time and arrived in the past. Inspired, I wanted to write a play that showed Richard’s life as a military leader, his adoration for his older brother, his love for Anne Neville and the amazing, effective women around him - he was so much more than the isolated villain of the Shakespeare play.  The play had two great runs at Shakespeare North Playhouse and Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds with Katie Posner will be director and we have high hopes for future stagings.

The Other Boleyn Girl

The Other Boleyn Girl was adapted for the stage by Mike Poulton and directed by Lucy Bailey for Chichester Festival Theatre. Amazingly, Chichester was where I started my working life as a journalist and the theatre I visited as a child. So, to return there with a to see book of mine on stage was beyond a dream.
